Privacy policy
This policy explains what BookTheShop collects and why.
What we collect
- Your email address, so we can send your download link and receipt.
- If you create an account: your name, password (stored scrambled), addresses you add, your wishlist and the reviews you write.
- Your orders: what you bought, when and for how much.
- Basic visit counts (which pages are viewed and where visitors came from), without third-party trackers.
- If you leave e-books in your basket while signed in or after entering your email at the checkout, we keep the basket so you can pick it up again.
What we don’t collect
We never see or store your card details: payments go straight to our payment provider.
How we use it
To deliver what you buy, keep your library, answer your messages and keep the store secure. We don’t sell your details.
Emails from us
We always email what you need for an order or your account: download links, receipts and password links.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, or have an account or an order with us, we may also email you about your basket, the e-books you bought and others like them. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch them off from your account page. Unsubscribing never affects the emails about your orders.
So we can see which emails are useful, we record when one is opened and when a link in it is clicked.
Your choices
You can change your details, switch off our emails or close your account at any time from your account page. To ask for a copy or deletion of your data, email help@booktheshop.com.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the store needs to work: one keeps your basket and sign-in, and one protects the forms you send.
